William Powell Frith -- "Claude Duval, The Highwayman" / 1860
"The Highwayman"
"I had a black cape and pistols, and I was definitely a bandit. A highwayman, as it were. I was being chased within an inch of my life by these grenadiers on horseback, and I knew for a fact that if they caught me, they were going to kill me." -- Jimmy Webb, who wrote the song, "The Highwayman," after experiencing this dream.
I was a highwayman. Along the coach roads I did ride
With sword and pistol by my side
Many a young maid lost her baubles to my trade
Many a soldier shed his lifeblood on my blade
The bastards hung me in the spring of twenty-five
But I am still alive.
I was a sailor. I was born upon the tide
And with the sea I did abide.
I sailed a schooner round the Horn to Mexico
I went aloft and furled the mainsail in a blow
And when the yards broke off they said that I got killed
But I am living still.
I was a dam builder across the river deep and wide
Where steel and water did collide
A place called Boulder on the wild Colorado
I slipped and fell into the wet concrete below
They buried me in that great tomb that knows no sound
But I am still around .... I'll always be around ....
and around and around and around and around
I fly a starship across the Universe divide
And when I reach the other side
I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain
But I will remain
And I'll be back again, and again and again and again and again
And when I reach the other side
I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain
But I will remain
And I'll be back again, and again and again and again and again

Actually, it is going on four in the afternoon here, and I am straightening up the townhouse in anticipation of people coming to look at it in a while. Busy, busy, busy ....
By the way, my mind is constantly at work, twenty-four hours a day. My body seldom is at work -- ever, ever, ever ....

Yep, townhouse. The same one I have been occupying since May and have been writing about since then. I even ran a few photographs taken from the window.
Periodically, I stop drinking altogether for a while. I will not stop again. I have learned my lesson about doing something because someone else wishes it. I also might start smoking again -- cigars. Fie upon this quiet life! I want .... Whoops, I guess I already said that before.
Me, too, about sleeping, although I am not sleeping enough to realize any dreams. I am eager to be on the move again. Sitting in one place when it is not the right place is my definition of boring.

Yes, living in a place that is not the right place would be part of my definition of boredom. Being alone forms another part.
As for lion hunting, one of my mottoes the past several years has been: If you are not going to eat it, do not shoot it. So-called "sport hunting" is for children.
Visitors and puppies can be problems on occasion. You paint, apparently. One of these days when it is raining and you cannot go outdoors, you should photograph some of your work and post it.
Yes, very busy, for sure, from now until Monday. I have company coming as well, to help me move things into storage. I also told my mother I would visit her for a few hours this weekend, and it is about a two-hour drive each way. Busy, busy, busy ....
"Love Hurts" is my theme song. Time answers all questions ....

Fram?what is it like to love somebody so badly?
You ask an unfair question, Anita. But, I think the answer might be found in the posts I have written during the past few months. Beyond that, love always comes at a price. Sometimes the price might be too high, at least for me, because my name is Fram, not Faust or Faustus.
Time will answer your questions regarding love, too ....
Only my mother is left from the generations before me ....
yes I think -i undestand..but in a way not..whenever i fell in love and it ends..it usually goes away in a few weeks and we becomes ood friends. So is that love?no.For me the love must be forever or it is not love.So life goes on its strange ways..You have said much good on your blog..but i like special the things you tell about yourself..It is like reading agood book!!!
....
Take good care of your mother..she gave birth to you..!!!...and is the tree of life..take care..Fram..we talk whenever you want!!!!hugs and kisses ect ect ect
Oppps..i ment GOOD friends.....about ended relationsships...uggghhhhhhh..!!!
Many words have lost or are losing their meaning because society is too careless and causal and, mostly, because of the asinine aspect of political correctness. Many words are applied to situations whether they are used accurately or not. Many words have multiple meanings. I frequently have said that the most difficult work in the world is communication with one another. This is especially true when two people speak different languages. Whatever .... my thoughts about love are posted on the right side of my page.
And, yes, my mother is well taken care of ....
And, thank you, Anita, for the compliments and the kisses ....
Amiable post and this fill someone in on helped me alot in my college assignement. Say thank you you for your information.
