The path less
traveled / no traffic jams on this road / the trail that never ends .... an
individual could make a case for all three statements about the locale in this photograph
and, perhaps, no one would argue the point. Where is this place? Since I do not
utilize GPS, I really am not sure, but money has it the location is somewhere
in either Colorado or Utah. No matter .... even though a bit desolate and lonely,
it is a nice place, a serene place, a fine place for going on a hike ....

It looks like this place is in South Utah but I am not sure.
I wish I could drive on this road for a long long time.
I like desolated places, desolated roads and deserts, Fram.
Roy Orbinson is a beautiful singer!
You probably are right about the location, Kaya. I do have GPS, but never bother to turn it on other than occasionally in metropolitan areas.
I like desert terrain, but vastly prefer woodland and water. I experienced exposure to desert regions in the Marine Corps and, in some ways, thrived there. At one time, I was offered work at a newspaper at Casa Grande in Arizona and would have moved there had not a last-minute offer come in from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan .... woodland and water vs. desert = I did not have to think twice about it.
I agree completely with you about Roy Orbison. If you have the opportunity, listen to the entire "Roy Orbison and Friends: A Black and White Night" concert. It offers most of his songs, with many of the "who's who" in the world of music at the time either on stage with him or in the audience.
Thank you, Kaya, for coming and for writing. See you at your blog in a few minutes ....

You think the love you never had might save you ....
Is it love or lies ....
Well you must be a prisoner in disguise
The lyrics to that song fascinate me and I dwell on them in context to myself and to others. I also am sort of captive to the lyrics of, "I Will Always Love You," which is among my absolute favorite songs both in terms of lyrics and melody. I think I understand both songs, but never am quite sure about their meanings or sure I believe them. I really do wonder if I might be a "prisoner in disguise."
I especially like the way John Doe sings "always love you," which to me is in a cowboy style, and Linda Ronstadt's version is my second favored (pretty much cowboy, too) and my favorite version by a woman singer.
Yes, I was there and it is my photograph. Although it might seem to be the case, I am not completely sedentary. There are times Buddy and I get into the vehicle and just start driving, usually westerly, and go for a day or two or three or four before heading back by different routes. There are other times I will be paid to transport something or someone from Point A to Point B, and do a bit of sightseeing on the way back.
You are fortunate, Anita, to live in an area where remnants of the Viking era abound. There is not a week that goes by when I do not read about a relic or a grave being found, more often in Sweden than in Norway, and it is fascinating stuff to learn. Native American relics are plentiful in my neck of the woods, but European material extends back only a few centuries.
I definitely am a woods and water guy, and want to be living in the last house at the end of a road -- which I did, once upon a time. The older I get, the more I respect and love Nature and want to be in the midst of it. In the age of computers and the internet, it is possible to live in a place of serenity more-or-less isolated to whatever degree an individual wishes and still have entertainment and shopping a "brief drive away." You are right .... spending money can be fun ....
I occasionally do include photographs of myself on my page, but they are tiny or blurred or old or partially covered. Look closely, and, maybe, your wish will be granted.
So, Anita .... I am glad you arrived here and wrote a comment for me. Thank you, "town girl," and I hope all will go well for you on your trip to Finse.

You are so right, Anita: Time is one abstraction on which there is no price.
Mark Twain once said words to the effect that fear of death follows from the fear of life, and that a man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time. Wise words ....
