August flies, and soon will I

One Maltese, one television, two computers ….
The books and the guns already are in a storage unit ….
White Bear was taking a nap on the bed (poor bed that it is) ....

Meanwhile, preparations for our departure continue ....

The travels of Benny the Maltese

A few days ago, a certain young lady said in a comment in a reply to one my comments (that has sort of a silly sound to it, does it not?) that she did not really believe I had a Maltese. Well, although Benny has appeared in a post once or twice in the past, he decided that he should make another appearance. So, here he is, and Benny and I have an interesting story to tell to you.

A few years ago, Benny embarked from Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport aboard an aircraft destined for Seattle, Washington. He was traveling from a breeder in Minnesota on his way to a pet shop in Seattle. This was on Monday.

I met Benny in the Seattle pet shop on Tuesday. I returned to the shop and bought him on Wednesday, not knowing until I was actually in the process of making the purchase that he had arrived from Minnesota just two days before. On Thursday, the two of us flew back to Minneapolis/St. Paul from Seattle. On Friday, the two of us drove from Minnesota to South Dakota and spent a long weekend there before returning to Minnesota. Whether a person or a canine, life seems to be a bit weird at times, does it not?

By the way, notice that Benny's coffee cup is larger than my coffee cup. That should tell you who the boss is around here.

So, pick your musical poison

Music always is on my mind, sometimes simply for the enjoyment of it, sometimes for memories it sparks of a time now gone forever or of a person or of a place.

Somewhere in the neighborhood of one hundred years ago, I saw Uriah Heep in concert. It was a wonderful night; a beautiful, momentary few hours of happiness and exuberance and boundless energy. I heard one of the band's songs on the radio today, and wanted to share it. So, here is one of Uriah Heep's songs -- heavy-duty rock, but listen to the words, if you believe in yourself.

Not quite so far back in the distant past, I was introduced to a musical production entitled "Notre Dame de Paris." It is fascinating (to me, anyway) to listen to these songs sung in French and then in English. Someday, I swear, I will see this performance on stage. Here is a song from that French-Canadian masterpiece, one in particular that will always haunt me.

Strange bed-fellows, these two songs. So, pick your poison and, if you like them both, no doubt, Benny and I would like you ....

Fram…… my dear man… sweet Republican (hha!)
Thank you for remembering….. The “Russian girl” was where she should be – in Russia, twice within the past 7 months, attending to old parents…. Sad…
I don’t write because I don’t have much to say, became somewhat speechless – others may call it a depression, I call it anything but “depression”, bad luck, wrong track, whatever…
After being unemployed for almost 10 months, only recently found an employment as a dental assistant within oral surgery (yikes…..) – blood, blades, sutures are truly depressing stuff… I’ll overcome, I am sure, but it is truly uninspiring life I am having!

What did you mean “might be in the market for an Avtomat Kalashnikova” – going to Russia?????? When?? The factory & the museum is in Tula, do a search.
I will stop be again, my regards to sweet Polish girl Magdalena.

I am very happy you are out and about again, Natalie, and that you paid me the compliment of your company and your words here this evening.

It is poetic (somehow) that you now work in a dental office. Visiting one a considerable number of times became part of my routine in Warsaw. I went to Poland with an existing problem and developed another while there, so I caught up on every bit of dental work possible. It also was somewhat ironic that my dentist turned out to be a young lady from Poland who had spent three years practicing in Florida and who spoke better English than I do.

Yes, I am certain you will survive your bout with having your world turned upside down for a while -- your daughter, your parents, your work -- situations regarding each within a matter of a few months. I know you will not only survive, but prosper, as time passes. My life has been uninspiring for an entire decade, so I know the drill.

I still do have one Kalashnikov from the "old days," but could always use another. I was sort of joking when I wrote that, however, Moscow is on my short list of destinations for a winter pilgrimage. I want to go to Poland in the autumn, but I will be (happily) surprised if I am there more than a week or two. Maybe, I will try to explain it sometime.

Now, as for you, practice the three Rs: Resolve, (w)Rite, Record. I just made that up. Pretty good, hah? Do not stay hidden any longer, Natalie.

Well, you should like Benny, Anita. He is handsome and the most intelligent, talented and well-mannered dog I ever have encountered. Besides that, he loves girls. And, besides that, remember this wolf is that dog's best buddy.

You might not be able to roam the woodlands with your camera every day now, but you can stop by and say hello to me. It only takes a minute or two. Take care, and do not work too hard ....

Oh Fram, oh Fram, OH OH OH- IT'S URIAH HEEP!

Please take we with you the next time you decide to walk into one of their concerts.
Have you by any chance hear the song;

"Lady in Black?"
That used to be my favorite, when I was a kid. And "Sunrise" is also up there among my faves.

Benny is adorable! Man, if I had sucha dog, I'd be running around like TinTin, solving mysteries, being all energetic and happygolucky!

And yeah, he drink coffee like a BOSS!

I have to join the crowd and say that I like Benny a lot also. Thank you for sharing with us his story. I mean how you found him. Fram, how do you say "good buy" to places where you lived for a while?

I like a lot the song Notre Dame de Paris.

Thank you, Nanna, Nanna, Nanna ....

Yes, I have heard and owned every Uriah Heep song ever. I did not think you were that old but, I guess, like most bands over the years, they come and they go when they need the cash. They even were back once again, and in Warsaw and Moscow a year or two ago.

I would like to read about you walking home through the snow again, and hear you and your friend sing again. Those were two of my favorites among your posts.

Which reminds me. I always have wondered, where are you, secretive one?

Thank you, for coming to visit and for leaving a comment. We go way back, and your appearance always is special.

Yes, Kaya. Benny is very popular and thoroughly enjoys every bit of attention you are willing to give him.

Yes, again. It is a beautiful song, I think. It would be a great experience to attend a performance of the production in its entirety.

How do I say goodbye to places I have lived for a while? I never have thought about it in that sense. Quite often, I am glad to be leaving a place by the time I actually go, or I am so enthusiastic about the place I am going to that it fills my mind completely and there is no room for thoughts about the place or the people being left behind.

A few times, I have thought I would eventually return to a particular place to live again, but other than the region around Mankato here in Minnesota, I never have returned anywhere except for brief visits. This is interesting to think about. Thank you ....

Yes, that is one thing about the sea of blogs. It is possible to meet many nice and interesting people.

Yes, about the glasses. I wore them for reading and for school work when I was a boy. I took them off and put them away when I was seventeen. I never wore them again until a few years ago. Now, I am like a boy once more, and wear them for reading and for "school work."

Benny is not overly fond of water, but he will not hesitate to go in a boat or a canoe. He also loves to sit on my lap and steer the vehicle when we drive somewhere.

A pet is much work. I also had a parrot, but he died about a year ago.

Later, Anita ....

Well, I am secretive, yes. Haha, but for no reason really. My hideout is located among tall, snowy moutains and ragged forests, deep fjords and crooked, rooty beaches; Yes. I'm from up north ;)

Tadaaaaa! Norway!

And I am not that old, I am 21 years of age, as from YESTERDAY actually ^_^

In two days my life starts up again, and I'm thrilled. Ready and ON TRACK!

Where are you flying away?

So, you are Anita, the femme fatale .... are you ??

Fram Actual said...

Well, then .... a very, very happy belated birthday to you, Nanna. August seems to be a popular month. And, I am glad for you that your life resumes on Monday. It is my turn next, I hope.

The Norwegian aspect of your page always was clear to me, Nanna, but I was uncertain if you actually still lived there. As for your age, my guess was twenty, give or take a year or two in either direction. So, I was right on there.

I am not flying off literally at the end of August, only driving off to visit a few people in a few places. However, hopefully, I will be literally doing so in October. My thought is Autumn in Warsaw, since I have seen Winter and a touch of Spring there already. Someone suggested that I try Argentina after that. You know, South America might be an idea.

Something special ....
