In my beginning, there was the Colt 1911

Here are three more of my handguns, ready to play or to work.

Driving, shooting & music go well together ....

This is a lazy day (night) post. Drove my Mustang "boy racer" style on Saturday. Fired three handguns on Saturday. Listened to rock music on Saturday, mingled with the sound of the gunfire. That makes for a good day, in many respects, for me.

To show the culprits in this escapade. On top is a Smith & Wesson Model 629. It is a .44 Magnum, and this is a more recent version of the revolver made famous by Clint Eastwood in his "Dirty Harry" movies. I can "pop" two-liter pop containers at 40 yards with this baby. (I do have lots of babies in my life, do I not?)

Next is my carry (if and when I carry) Colt, Model 1911, Gold Cup, National Match pistol in .45 caliber. It has had a bit of custom work, visible on the outside, but the more important work is on the inside. It is a greater shooter.

Finally, on the bottom, is my concession to modern handguns. It is a Glock Model 30, which also is .45 caliber. It is my house pistol, my back-pocket pistol.

Incidentally, what might appear to be designs on the slide of the Colt 1911 are simply clouds and blue sky reflecting on protective oil. Sort of a neat look, though.

Personally, I cannot understand why an average, normal person would be afraid of firearms. Take a pistol course from a trained, professional, licensed instructor, and I think eight or nine out of ten would fall in love with shooting sports.

I cannot imagine life without firearms. There is no need to be a hunter with them but, I think, there is every need to increase the number among us who believe in the personal rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Only tyrants wish to disarm the common folk. Remember that, or your descendants will live to regret your lack of courage and wisdom.

Music Note: Listening to "Yes" ....
Specfically, "The Yes Album" ....
Some lines from "Starship Trooper:"

Starship trooper, go sailing on by,
Catch my soul, catch the very night.
Hide the moment from my eager eyes.
Though you’ve seen them, please don't tell a soul.
What you can't see, can't be very whole.

Speak to me of summer, long winters longer than time can remember,
Setting up of other roads, travel on in old accustomed ways.
I still remember the talks by the water, the proud sons and daughters that,
In the knowledge of the land, spoke to me in sweet accustomed ways.

Amen, Sweet Fram, Amen.

If teaching firearms safety to people were a part of their education, we would not have the foolishness that is happening.

Fear comes out of not knowing and not understanding. But once known and respected, the fear leaves you and turns into knowledge and empowerment (at least for me).

Some day I may have to do a post about how I became attracted to firearms. I do remember that once I understood their workings, my fear left me.

Hmmmm but I do love your collection. Just beautiful.

I just recently sold my .32 Beretta Tom Cat and my .22 Ruger, I wasn't using them as much anymore and two of my friends were interested.

So now I'm saving the money for something speical. There's a gun show in Antioch today, and I'm going there right now. Who knows what I'll find.

Hi Fram :) Very nice, clean and shiny guns :)
I agree with you, "There is every need to increase the number among us who believe in the personal rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

I'll have to take a picture of my gun and show it to you sometime. You will probably like it :)
Have a Happy Day :)

I hope you've had a great weekend with your "boys toys" Fram :-)

Diva .... It is great to see you here again.

I agree fully with your education comment. It would be beneficial and positive for both the people who underwent the training and for the public at large, and make more sense than does some of the other "classes" being offered these days.

It would be very interesting to read about your introduction to firearms. I think you should write it as a post when the mood strikes you.

I hope you found something you liked at the gun show. I enjoy doing a bit of selling and trading, as well as buying. Take care.

Kelly .... I'm glad to see you out and about today.

If you could see the inside of these guns, they would not look so clean.

Too many people take their freedoms for granted, and worse yet, they often want to impose their beliefs = restrictions on others.

I'm sure I'd like your revolver. I've never met a gun I didn't like.

Katy .... So nice of you to make such a long trip to spread good wishes.

I can assure you that Saturday was a great deal of fun; Sunday less so for it meant cleaning the residue from Saturday's fun. But, that is part of the experience, too.

Some girls enjoy these sorts of toys. You might check around for a shooting club in your area, just to give it a try.

Herr Fram,
Posting someone else’s beautiful thoughts that is all I have time for between now and June! (Hosting a friend for three weeks, serving on a Jury & traveling to Russia leaves no time for writing…)

I want to thank you for being a pleasant company these past 3-4 months.
Wherever your roads take you, be safe, meet pleasant people and, most importantly, find what you set yourself to find.
Will be checking on you from time to time.
Natalie

Well, thank you very kindly, Natalie. I enjoy visiting your page very much, and I like knowing that you visit mine. You are a very fascinating young lady.

I will continue to check your page daily in hopes that you have posted, especially your own poetry, or to learn which words written by others have inspired you at that particular moment in time.

Something special ....
